Advanced Life Support

The European Resuscitation Council (ERC) certified Advanced Life Support course. It is a standardised European course teaching evidence-based resuscitation guidelines and skills to healthcare professionals. The ALS course provides a standardised approach to cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adults. The ALS course aims to train candidates to identify the causes of cardiac arrest, recognise patients in danger of deterioration, and manage both the cardiac arrest and the 'peri-arrest' problems encountered in the first hour or so after initial resuscitation from a cardiac arrest.

European Paediatric Advanced Life Support

The EPALS course is designed for all healthcare professionals who are likely to be involved, either as a team member or team leader, in the resuscitation of a child, infant or newborn whether in hospital or out of hospital. The course aims to provide caregivers with the knowledge and skills needed for managing a critically ill child during the first hour of illness, and preventing progression to cardiac arrest. Emphasis is given also to team management and non-technical skills.

Intermediate Life Support

The Immediate Life Support course is a multidisciplinary 1-day course which provides the essential knowledge and skills that are important in the initial phase of treating a critically ill patient who needs resuscitation. Therefore, it is ideally suited for the training of healthcare providers at all stages and levels. It provides training in more diagnostic skills than the BLS course and expands core knowledge and teaches airway management skills, ECG recognition and rapid, safe defibrillation, using an AED or a manual defibrillator. The concept follows closely that of the ALS course, but focuses only on the core knowledge and skills appropriate for most healthcare providers. The course aims to be the first-line resuscitation course for healthcare professionals.

European Paediatric Intermediate Life Support

EPILS aims to provide resuscitation training for all those healthcare providers who care for children, but are not usually members of a resuscitation team. Candidates are trained to recognise and manage critically ill children and children in cardiorespiratory arrest whilst awaiting the arrival of a resuscitation team (1 to 5 minutes) and to provide further support once the team arrives.

Basic Life Support E-Learning - None ERC Course

Basic life support (BLS) and, when possible, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) is the first level of care for a person in cardiac arrest.
